Is the MGM Grand far off the strip?

My friend thinks it's far off the strip because its at the end. What are the Pro's and Con's of staying there? Is it a good location? Is the MGM Grand far off the strip?
MGM Grand is an excellent location. If you look at a map of the strip, you will see that it is right next door to Gameworks and M%26amp;M World, and only a short walk to Paris and Planet Hollywood, which I consider the heart of the strip. It would be considered lazy to not stay there because of it's distance from things. Everything is just a hop, skip, and jump away. Here is a link to the hotel map on the strip. There is also a bus that runs from Mandalay Bay at the south end, all the way down the strip and to downtown. So everything is accessible from anywhere on the strip. I wouldn't stay North of the Venetian and Treasure Island, though. Then you are getting pretty far away from everything. Have Fun!
Bop your friend in the head and give 'em a V8. It's right in the heart of the action on the strip. Is the MGM Grand far off the strip?
The MGM Grand is right on the strip. However, Signature at MGM, which is apartment-style hotel rooms, is a couple blocks off the strip. It's connected to the main part of the MGM so you can do the walk without going outside, but plan on a 10 minute walk.

The location is pretty good, and being a huge hotel (the largest in Vegas) there is a lot to do/eat/gamble without leaving the hotel. Some of the rooms are a bit dated, but overall they are better than average and usually the rooms can be found for a good price. The hotel is a step down, though, from the top places such as Bellagio, Wynn and Venetian.
Nope it's on the strip, directly across the street from NYNY, in fact there is a bridge between the two so if you don't like whats going on at the MGM you can walk across the bridge to the NYNY and check out Coyote Ugly. They have an awsesome alchoholic slurpy bar :D
It is ON the strip, just on the south end ... Las Vegas Blvd is a very, very, very long street; but "The Strip" runs from Sahara to Tropicana (actually Russell since that's where Mandalay Bay is).
It's a good location if you like the strip and the lights and the business... I hated vegas when we went and would rather stay at one of the resorts about 10 miles from the strip. There are some that have casino's, movie theaters, resturants, multiple pools, water parks... etc off the strip. That's my kind of place. Less crowded, but still has all the cool stuff.
its on the strip toward the middle its a nice hotel and fun it has its clubs ck them out it also has mgm signature its attached wit the hotel and there rooms r awesome if u have the money id pick them theres really nothing bad wit this place its really fun
It's right there on the strip. Right by the Tropicana and up the street from the Excalibur, down from New York, NY. It's really big and dark and kinda dated. I personally like the Paris, Mandalay Bay and if you wanna get the best Ceasars and The Wynn are breathtaking! Wynn is pretty far off the strip tho, as well as Hard Rock and Palms
