I'm looking for a hotel casino on the strip that has nice renovated rooms without paying a fortune. I think I have narrowed it down to the Mirage, NY NY, Treasure Island or MGM Grand. I'm leaning towards the Mirage for the room and NY NY for the atmosphere. We are 3 couples in their mid 40's looking for a long weekend of fun.Mirage, NY NY, Treasure Island or MGM Grand?
TI has just been sold and they said they plan no changes. The Mirage has the latest renovations of your list but the Venetian is the last major renovation doing every room last year. Mirage is crowded and cramped but really hopping. MGM is so big you can actually get lost in there and it is a venture just to get to the strip. NYNY has a great location but there are complaints of the noise from the roller coaster if you get a room on that side. Mirage would be the best choice of the ones you listed.
I have stayed at all three and I would say MGM Grand for a number of reasons, the MGM has a very nice selection of restaurants, shops and the Lion Habitat is fun to look at as well. I didn't care for the Mirage because whenever I walked through the casino there was an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. Treasure Island is nice, but it's old, not a huge selection of nice places to eat but if you like to gamble they do have a large variety of slot machines. My husband and I are frequent Vegas visitors and we regularly stay at Mandalay Bay. It's got everything you could ask for and more.Mirage, NY NY, Treasure Island or MGM Grand?
I have stayed at all of these hotels and Mirage is our favourite and TI our least. Mirage is more grown up than the rest we find that the clintele are more similar to us (late 30's couple) and we love the atmosphere, we love its a bit darker inside and more old school vegas and with all the rooms being refurbed in 2008 the rooms are awesome, the pool at Mirage is very nice as well.
We find NYNY rooms a wee bit small and we also find that it seems to be priced a bit higher than Mirage and MGM and cant see why. MGM has the largest standard rooms and the best beds in the world but it can get very busy at weekends.

I personally like MGM. I stayed there a long time ago and I'm planning on staying there in March. I really like the atmopshere and the pools are great. They have a lazy river too.
Mirage is nice too. Check out the Beetles Love Cirque Du Soleil that they have there. I saw it back in May and it's fantastic.
I think it really just depends on which theme you like the best. NYNY is really cool if you like NY, but I've heard the pool is nothing spectacular. And I haven't been in TI yet, but if your into pirates, that may be you're thing.
i personally enjoyed the harrah's when i went to vegas but then again i'm in my late 20's. you can always go in to any casino for the atmosphere and stick to your first choice for the room. unless you aren't too comfortable with the walking then pick the one with the atmosphere you really like.
The Mirage would be my pick. MGM is nice but the Mirage is in a better location.
The rooms are really nice, the price is more reasonable than the Mirage or TI %26amp; their pool is nice.
Have a good time in Vegas!
Of the four properties you mentioned, the Mirage has the newest rooms. Good rates and great location. Read the comments here from people that stayed there.
