Opinions about the MGM Grand?

I booked a trip to Vegas at the MGM Grand, is it a good hotel to stay at? Anything I need to know about the hotel? Any tips or hints to make my stay better would be a great help. I've never stayed in Vegas before so I'm green and I just want to have a good (amazing) time.

Thanks!Opinions about the MGM Grand?
I just recently stayed at the MGM Grand and it was my first Vegas experience as well and I loved it! It was a really nice hotel. Very BIG! The elevators are pretty central and you can go in three different directions from there so if you know where you are going its not to bad. The rooms were nice, the bathrooms were in a slight need of an upgrade but nothing to really complain about. If you like to gamble but don't like to play at the higher tables I would recommend taking the bridge over to the Tropicana. Now the Tropicana smells like mold and is ugly but they have $5 tables all day which is worth it to me! There is an abundance of Starbucks in the MGM which is always handy. We ate at the buffet there which was pretty good, also the Studio Cafe which was not fabulous but not bad. My favourite place we at was in the Wynn. I completely forget the name of it but it was awesome.

When we first checked in we asked if they could find us a room with a good view and they had no problem with that. It never hurts to ask, I think in Vegas they allow them to do a certain amount of upgrades per day or something. Also I forgot to do so but join their Players Club. You can get complimentary meals and even stays. Its free to sign up so why not!

My one complaint about the MGM is that it had this overwhelming flowery smell. It was really strong and when you left the hotel to go outside it was like you could still taste it! Its not a bad smell just to much.
No doubt you will have a great time. The MGM is fabulous, as are many of the other casinos in Las Vegas. The rooms are surprisingly average, however. Nothing special. About what you would expect if you stayed at a Days Inn.Opinions about the MGM Grand?
Hi. I've stayed at the MGM a couple of times with no problems. The rooms are nice. The place is huge, it has over 5000 rooms. The first time I actually stayed there, I found it a bit crowded and it can be a long walk to your room from the elevator so you may want to ask for something a little closer when you check in. The hotel has great restaurants. I can highly recommend Emeril's, Pearl, Nob Hill, Craft Steak, Fiamma, Diego, and Wolfgang Pucks. The Cirque Du Soleil show Ka is the main house show. In my opinion, other Cirque shows at Bellagio and Treasure Island are better. There is usually a headline act playing in another theater in the hotel.

I can't imagine visiting Vegas for the first time now. I've been going since 92 and I can't keep up with everything that the town has to offer. I found my first visit overwhelming and a bit intimidating not knowing how things work. My best advice is, try not to see everything on your first trip. Take your time getting around. Ask friends or co workers who have been there the one thing they think you shouldn't miss. You'll get a lot of different answers but that's only because Vegas is so big now. You have to at least see one show and blow a chunk of change on an expensive meal at a fine restaurant. The last thing, make sure you have some comfortable shoes because you are going to do a lot of walking! Good luck and have fun!
Wear sensible shoes. The place is SO BIG, you might get tired of walking.

I've stayed there at least twice, and I got married there.

MGM is great because there is a check in desk at the airport. It is at one end of the baggage claim area in the airport. Then you can go right to your room upon arrival.

Nobhill is good. Emeril's is over-rated.

have fun.
