Is MGM Grand in Las Vegas good for people traveling alone?

I really have wanted to go to MGM Grand in Las Vegas for awhile now, but, unfortunately i'd be solo. But I want to have a good time for myself, not be afraid of my safety and just feel comfortable being alone in the hotel. I'd plan on going on a Monday staying til Wednesday.Is MGM Grand in Las Vegas good for people traveling alone?
There is nothing wrong with MGM Grand or Tropicana for safety. Pick the one with the best deal
If you are traveling alone, the south end of the strip is definitely where you want to be - the north end is very sketchy and a lot of crime occurs down there - like drugs and violence! MGM is about as far from that end of the strip you can get - only 2 further away are the Xcalibur and Mandalay Bay. There are plenty of places to eat in the MGM and there are lots of place in walking distance! New York New York is very close and a little newer. If work is paying for it, by all means, stay there! If you're on a serious budget, stay at the Tropicana, it's old - but at least you're on the safe end of the strip! Since you're alone - I would definitely suggest that you take a cab ride to Town Square, only about a mile away from the MGM, if that - it's a big outdoor mini city/mall area that is unquestionably safe and has tons of entertainment to captivate you! Locals and tourists go there! Try the Piano Bar or if you just want a beer, the Yard House is an awesome place for people of all ages! They also have a frozen yogurt buffet type place there that is super yummy! There is also a movie theater there! If you want a great happy hour special - try Brio Tuscan Grille, they have $2.95 appetizers that are amazing! Try the spicy shrimp with eggplant, super delish! MGM is safe to go alone. The strip is generally safe to walk alone there are so many people walking that you will rarely be alone, just watch your purse.



My wife 120lbs 5'4 walked alone several times to and from MGM. She wven went to the circus circus on the crap side of strip. Also the guy above is correct about stratosphere being a dump.



I personally thnk Vegas is over rated, but enjoy.
MGM would be a bit better for safety as the Tropicana draws a lower priced crowd. Normally security especially on the strip is the best.
Yup. MGM is a safe hotel. but it'll be boring going to vegas by yourself... ask a friend to go..
