MGM Grand or Monte Carlo ?

There is no comparison. MGM Grand is far better and the rooms are nicer. Both hotels however have great discounts.

Totally the Monte Carlo. The Italian/Spanish/Mexican flare mixed with the Modern amenities is to-die-for. Not to mention that the Monte Carlo has its share of western influences, i.e. the BRAND Stakehouse. In addition to the stakehouse, the Monte Carlo offers Mexican and Italian styled eateries. The main question to ask yourself when choosing is whether or not you want the modern-leaning-Italian/Spanish/Mexican styled rooms and amenities or the Purely American Styled MGM Grand. The MGM Grand is as its name suggests: Grand. But the cultural diversity lies with the Monte Carlo. I suggest the Monte Carlo, but what really counts is your personal taste.
Personal taste and requirements would be the deciding factor. If you are going now or soon and want to use the pool, the MGM Grand has one that is open all year, the Monte Carlo does not. Location wise, they are pretty close to equal. Size wise, the MGM is massive the Monte Carlo is more intimate. If you stick to your hotel mostly, the MGM is a good choice. If you like to come and go a lot, the Monte Carlo is a better choice. This is because the MGM is so big that even the walk from the front desk to your room will take upwards to 15 minutes. It gets pretty tiresome after a while.

This is a common trade-off. If you select a mega hotel with everything under one roof, such as the MGM or Caesars, it is great if you stick to your hotel. But even to walk to the hotel next door is a chore. If you chose a more intimate sized hotel, you won't have everything the mega hotels have.

People like me, who basically only sleep in their hotel room are better served with places like Monte Carlo. People who spend a lot of time in or near their hotel room are better served with places like MGM.

MGM Grand would be the better choice. MGM does not charge a resort fee but Monte Carlo does. You will have to pay an extra $9.50 plus tax for every night you stay there. This you will have to pay when you get here. Boycott hotels that have those resort fees. Force them to put them in their actual quoted rates.
MGM for me due to the better pool and the wet republic pool which is like heaven for guys, all kinds of beautiful ladies there, plus they have the lazy river pool, inner tubes cost $16 a day.. Hotel is huge, restaurants are better at MGM then MC.. MC walls are to thin, you can hear people next door talking sometimes..
comparing apples and oranges---- have money MGM /no money Monte Carlo. If you have money try Venetian/Palazoo or Ceasars, Bellagio, b/4 MGM. Most people get lost at MGM first time there-----too big.
Hands up for MGM Grand but generally both hotels are fine. Check the current room specials for both hotels on http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com - then I would make the decision with the room price.
