Which hotel is better: MGM Grand, ny ny, or treasure island?

I am going to Las Vegas during Thanksgiving and i was wondering which hotel is better. i am going with three kids ( 12, 14, and 16 year old girls) and my husband. I heard MGM grand is really big and can take a lot of time to go one place to another and is kinda far from "all the action". Some say that NY NY is an great hotel but the roller coaster makes too much sound at night if you are by it? :/ I also heard treasure island is great but i haven't heard any bad comments on it....Can you tell me which one is better?

oh and if you know any great deals on these hotels plz tell me!

(plz reply only if you have been at these hotels in person...thanks! )

thanks,

MGM is nice, it's very big and has a lot going on - it's toward the end of the strip but there is still a lot of action plus there are trams that you can take further down the strip. The lion sanctuary would probably be cool for the kids to see. I've stayed at the MGM several times, I suggest staying in the in a deluxe room versus the West Wing (rooms are small and a pain to get to). You can get some good deals on The Signature at MGM suites, bigger rooms they are a little bit away from the casino and just off the strip but you can get a view room if you don't mind walking a little bit.

NY NY is ok.. I've gambled at this casino but never stayed there, it's further to the end of the strip than MGM is. I wasn't impressed enough to stay at that hotel.

Treasure Island is kind of right in the middle of the strip, they have some cool shows there. I've never stayed at this hotel either but I have gambled there.

Planet Hollywood has nice rooms and it is right in the middle of the strip also - I stayed at Planet Hollywood for the first time 3 weeks ago. Mandalay Bay is my favorite hotel to stay at but that is at the end of the strip and a bit more expensive.

When booking a room I go to the hotel website and search there, seems like they have the best deals and they give you photos and descriptions of the amenities. When in doubt call the 800#

Hope this helps!

Edit - Herfnerd is right, NYNY is across from MGM, I was confusing it with where the Excalibur is which is 1 hotel down from NYNY/MGM
thanks soo much for ALL answers! :)

I have stayed at both the MGM and TI

Yes, the MGM is big, but with big comes lots of things to do.

TI seemed to be less family oriented than MGM. But the location is better as it is mid-strip.

NY NY, I have never stayed at, no opinion. Didn't look like there was many things for families.
Out of those 3, definitely MGM is the best.

With kids Circus Circus or Excalibur
circus circus! Lots of kid stuff Not free!
JMHO but of the three, I would choose the MGM. The base rooms are the largest of the three hotels and it is in no way far from all the action but actually on the corner of one of the two busiest intersections on the Strip. It has the nicest pool of the three and one is heated and open thru the winter - the other two's are closed for the winter. It also has the best dining options. It is large but not really difficult to navigate

TI's rooms are very nice but the smallest of the three. It is more centrally located but not necessarily better located.

NYNY has the best theme of the three and IIRC, does not have a buffet. As for Tracy's comment that is further south than the MGM - I beg to differ. It is actually right across the Strip from the MGM on Tropicana Ave.
LOCATION - Treasure Island is on the Northern part of The Strip, right in the middle. It's directly across from The Venetian, The Palazzo, next to The Mirage and a little walk to the Wynn and Encore. There is also a Walgreen's across the street and a Starbucks next to the hotel. Fashion Show Mall is also across the street.

ROOMS - The boy and I stayed in a Deluxe Room. Upon checking-in, we were upgraded to a Strip View room and had an amazing view of not only The Strip but also the pool! The room was clean and spacious, as was the bathroom, however I wish the toilet was separate from the shower for obvious reasons ;P Beds are beyond comfortable - so hard to wake up in the mornings and from naps! iHomes, flat screen tv's, blow dryers and refrigerators in the room.

POOL - It's FREE! Just gotta show your room card. The pool is pretty small but did the job, especially if you don't want to pay for pool parties. There is a bar outside and also a DJ playing music till close. There's tons of chairs but if you don't get down to the pool in time, you are stuck with the ones in the shade. Cabana's are also nice, but obviously cost money.

DINING/ENTERTAINMENT - Many different options inside the hotel/casino ranging from moderately priced to expensive. I recommend Kahunaville, ISLA's, Phil's Italian Steak House, and The Coffee Shop. Skip the buffet unless you have the voucher, which is only good Monday-Friday. As far as entertainment, they have the original Cirque du Soleil show, Mystere but unfortunately I didn't get to check it out. They also have the Sirens of TI show outside, but it seemed pretty cheesy.

CASINO - I'm not big on gambling, but I did spend some time in the casino since my boyfriend likes to. The ventilation wasn't too bad in there but could be better. It was a little hard to navigate around there, but after awhile it was easy to get around. Tons of blackjack tables, slots, and virtual games.

NYNY Hotel
Pros:
1. Location. Right next to Excalibur. From Excalibur, take a tram to Luxor or Mandalay Bay.

Right next to Monte Carlo. From Monte Carlo, walk into Aria or take a tram to the new Crystals mall or the Bellagio. From the Bellagio, walk across the street to Caesar's Palace (which is across from Bally's and Flamingo).

Walk across the street to MGM, M%26amp;M World, Coke World, and GameWorks arcade.

2. Spa Suite. Spa Suites (with jacuzzi tubs) on the Strip range in price with the Luxor and NYNY on the low end, MGM and Monte Carlo on the slightly higher end, then up to Treasure Island and Caesar's Palace, until you get into the super expensive hotels like Bellagio and Venetian or hotels that only have jacuzzi tubs in pent-house priced suites like Paris.

NYNY's spa suite is spacious and the tub is a clover-shaped tub with four jets in the bottom. The jets can hit the small of your back or your legs, but because of where they are located, they cannot massage your back or shoulders. There is plenty of room for two. For the price, well worth it (we paid $80/night in August).

3. Nine Fine Irishmen. Good food with real Irish (or at least British) fare as opposed to an American menu with fish and chips thrown in. The food is quality (I highly recommend the butter and caramel bread pudding) and the vibe is relaxing.

4. Dueling Pianos. Throughout the afternoon and evening, one bar has dueling pianos where two pianists take requests from the audience and play them on the piano and sing. However, it's more than that. They are entertainers and will sometimes parody a song. There's no cover, actual tables (but also dance floor) and food and bar service. It's a great way to have an entertaining evening without the ridiculous cost of a bottle service at a night club and since you can influence the music being played, more likely to cater to your tastes.

5. The resort fee includes the wi-fi.

6. Access to Monte Carlo's pool.

Cons.
1. Temperature control in the rooms. The thermostat is not programmable. You just toggle a little bar from "warm" to "cool". Our room was freezing, but if I moved it just a smudge toward "warm," the heater (and it's bad, unused heater smell) kicked on.

2. Pool is unimpressive, but you have access to the far superior Monte Carlo pool as a NYNY guest.

MGM Grand
This place is kind of a dump and the clientele seems to be mostly stupid kids spending mommy and daddy's college money.

1. The walls are paper thin!! I could hear my neighbors pee and that is not an exaggeration... its the truth. Just iamgine the other "activities" I could hear.

2. No shopping. There are only a couple of stores, except for the ones in the basement level which seem to be tailored to their trailer park demographic.

3. Room service sucks!! I tried to order twice. The first time I was told it would be an hour and a half wait. The next night, it was going to be a 2 hour and 15 minute wait. Ridiculous!
