My Fiance and I are planning a trip to Vegas in January. Here's the deal. We can get the MGM grand for $1,005 for 6 days 5 nights. Or the Mirage for $1,120 for 5 days and 4 nights. Normally, I would chose the MGM since its cheaper and we can stay for longer but I have heard MGM is "OK" and is pretty far down on the strip. We were definitely wanting to stay at the Mirage for the location. What should we do?MGM Grand or Mirage in Las Vegas?
It really depends where you're flying from for the price. Both are good hotels, but I'm not sure why those are your only options.
I'd go with Planet Hollywood instead. Nice hotel, great location, no daily resort fees, and pricing should be similar to the other 2. Overall you should save money.
And for pricing, check out promo codes at http://www.mycheapvegas.com and compare booking air + hotel together and separately to find out which one is cheaper.
Mebbe its just me, but those rates seem awfully high.
Both are very nice hotels with the Mirage being a little more centrally located on the Strip. The MGM, although a little further south is not really "pretty far down the strip" but is still well located on the Tropicana corner of MGM, Excalibur, Tropicana and NYNY hotels
The Mirage has the better pool (probably a moot point in January) and both have great dining choices, although I would give the nod to the MGM.
If you want to stay at the Mirage, go for it but you really can't go wrong with either.....
EDIT
You didn't mention that the prices you quoted included airfare. That being the case, that isn't too bad of a deal................MGM Grand or Mirage in Las Vegas?
Mirage
The Mirage is a must-see stop. As you enter this Polynesian-themed hotel/casino through the front door, go to the right and see what's in back of the registration desk.It is worth seeing and one many people seem to miss on their trip. There is also a nearby tropical rain forest which you may find of interest. The Mirage is host to two "habitats" - the White Tiger Habitat and the Dolphin Habitat. Gone are the days when you could see the White Tigers for free. To see the Dolphins and White Tigers will now cost you $15.00 (adult admission). Follow the signs inside to see them. Since opening in 1989, the Mirage has been known for its famous 54 foot volcano that erupted every 15 minutes from dusk until midnight. The volcano underwent a renovation and was reopened in December of 2008.
Either is great. MGM is by several great casinos - Tropicana, Monte carlo, NYNY, Excalibur, Luxor and Mandalay Bay. Mirage is by Bellagio, Bills, Flamingo, Paris and Ballys
There is a FREE monorail that runs from Monte Carlo to Aria to Bellagio so you easily get to all other casinos
I vote for Mirage. First of my 6 visits to Vegas. Great pool, shopping, shows, dining, cool volcano in front and best of all...centrally located. Next to TI, Venetian, %26amp; Caesar's.
MGM is too...Grand. You get lost in the place.
Good luck!
Well having stayed at both, I found the Mirage to much better.
I have to agree with that first answer. For January those rates seem very high.
