My gf and I are taking a trip to Vegas at the end of summer and are looking at 4 star hotel/casinos on the strip. So far I'm looking at
MGM Grand
Mirage
NY NY
Which would you recommend, why, and are there any other 4 star hotels, similarly priced, that you'd recommend instead?Which Vegas Hotel: MGM Grand, Mirage, NY NY ?
I would go for MGM Grand, when you go to Vegas, you have to stay at least once in MGM, best thing about MGM, is they have a check in desk at the airport, and its great bec. you check in right at the airport, the bellman carries your bags and walks you to the shuttle, which is free to take you to the hotel.....it was so easy...once you get to hotel, they take your bags to your room, so you can be free to do what you want when getting there......
Out of those 3 I like the Mirage the best. It has a very nice, large, tropical themed pool with plenty of chairs to lay out on. It has of course plenty to see with the white tigers still being there and you can go their habitat and see dolphins as well for a small fee. The rooms are nice as well. Now as far as other hotels with similar prices. I would check out Mandalay Bay and Treaure Island....in particular Treasure Island because it's right next door to Mirage and still in the center of the strip and the rooms are slightly nicer than the Mirage (large marble soaking tub!).Which Vegas Hotel: MGM Grand, Mirage, NY NY ?
From your list of three, I would have to pick MGM Grand. It is a very beautiful hotel and it is conveniently located on the strip. However, I go to Vegas about four times a year and my favorite hotels are Mandalay Bay and the Bellagio. Mandalay Bay is similarly priced to your three hotels but the Bellagio is a bit pricier (IT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HOTEL ON THE STRIP....to me). If you do decide to go with Mandalay Bay, I would stay in THE HOTEL (that's the name). It offers elegance as well as privacy (NO children allowed). There are also the Venetian and the Aladdin....I have never stayed at either one of those but their prices are similar to what you are looking for. I have been in both of those hotels and they are both equally beautiful. To be honest with you...all the hotels are beautiful and offer exceptional service. But whatever you choose, I wish the best of luck and hope you have a lot of fun!! I would recommend to check out all the hotels just to see what they have to offer...just in case you ever decide you want to come back. HAVE FUN!!!! and good luck!
I have stayed at the Mirage and at the MGM Grand. Both have long walks through the casino to get to the guest elevators and the Mirage has room doors that are quite noisy. The rooms are nice in both hotels and they both have nice swimming pool areas and other attractions. NY NY is perpetually crowded with people gawking at the casino but I'm sure the rooms are good. The Venetian is my favorite Las Vegas Hotel - be sure to sign up for email promotions from them because you can get incredible prices this way. It's an all suite hotel with top notch customer service and fantastic restaurants. I am fond of the Mandalay Bay Casino - it's a beautiful place so I can also suggest that. The best prices though, may be the email promotions from the Venetian - normally $290 or so per night but sometimes as low as $139 for weeknights during the summer.
The mirage is really nice and the location is mid-strip so you can walk anywhere from the Mirage. It's across from the Venetian and right next to Caesar's Palace. I disagree with the first responder, I've never had a problem getting to the elevators. I suggest you get an upgraded room or small suite because you get private elevators and it makes you feel like a VIP. The Mirage has an awesome pool area and a great nightclub called "JET". I believe hotel guests get free passes to the nightclub.
I've also stayed at the Bellagio and the Aladdin (now called Planet Hollywood Hotel). Both are also very nice and in great locations.
MGM is good but it would be my last choice.
I like NYNY if you are younger (in your 20's). It is affordable as are the things to do in the hotel. You two would have your choice of fast food, fine dining, and everything in between right in your hotel. The Bar at Times Square has the best dueling pianos I've ever seen and it is always packed. I recommend doing that one night it is great fun as a couple.
The Mirage is what I would recommend if you are a little older (30's or more). It is the best location of the 3 you asked about and it is a very nice property. I haven't stayed there but I know that the pool area is great and they have the animals, shows, etc...
All of them are nice...but I'm not a fan of NY NY. MGM is very nice, but it's location isn't the greatest. Mirage is very nice as well...but there is VERY long walk through the crowded casino to get to the elevators to the rooms.
I would recommend Treasure Island (TI). It's right next door to the Mirage and the location is perfect. You are right near the Bellagio as well (make sure you take her to see the dancing fountains in front of it) and they have the BEST drinks on the strip, IMO. The rooms are great at TI and you don't have to walk through the whole casino to get to them. They also have the coffee shop there, which has the BEST food. Everyone that works there is so nice and if you stay there...you get special viewing for the pirate show in front of the hotel by showing them them your room key.
Have a GREAT TIME!! Although in Vegas, that's hard not to do!!!
My friends and I have stayed at Mirage the last 3 times out. Their pool is the main reason, and they're dead center on the strip. It's a great option. I've never done very well in their casino, though (but that's just my luck!).
However... we're going back in two weeks, and staying at the MGM Grand. Only because we're looking for a change of scenery... we've never stayed there but have heard good things.
No opinion on NYNY. I know they've got a roller coaster that goes up the Statue of Liberty's skirt or something like that...
Good luck and have fun!
all are nice, but i would stay at the mirage.. but it is crowded.. all three of those are still affordable. but the really nice places to stay are the mandalay bay, bellagio, venitian, and the wynn.. but you will probably spend alot more.. so it depends on what you are looking for in a room...
Circus Circus .. thats where my boyfriend and i stayed and we're staying there again in september .. i'm moving to vegas in october .. my boyfriend lived their for 3 years .. he says Circus Circus .. especially for a younger couple. Lots of fun!!!!!
BUT if you want to stick with those .. he says MGM GRAND, for sure. good luck
